Who we are

Trycyclo (“Trycyclo”, “we”, “us”) operates a waste collection platform connecting customers who need pickups with drivers who collect and recycle waste, delivered through our mobile app (the “App”) and related services. This policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, and how it's used and protected.

Information we collect

We collect the following categories of information:

  • Account information — your name, email address, phone number, and profile photo when you register, and, for drivers, vehicle and license/insurance details submitted during onboarding.
  • Location data — your device's precise location while a driver is online (used to match nearby pickup requests and track an in-progress trip), and the pickup/drop-off addresses a customer provides when booking.
  • Photos — waste photos a customer submits when booking a pickup, and identity/vehicle document photos a driver submits for verification. These are requested via your device's camera or photo library with your permission.
  • Trip and payment information — pickup history, bin selections, pricing, and payment/commission records. Card and mobile-money payment details are collected and processed directly by our payment providers (Stripe and Paystack) — Trycyclo does not store your full card number.
  • Push notification tokens — a device identifier (via Firebase Cloud Messaging) used to deliver trip and booking alerts.
  • Technical data — standard request logs (device type, app version, IP address) collected for security, fraud prevention, and debugging.

How we use your information

  • Match customers with nearby available drivers and coordinate pickups
  • Process payments and driver commissions
  • Verify driver identity, vehicle, and licensing documents before approval
  • Send trip status updates and service notifications
  • Provide customer support and investigate disputes or safety reports
  • Maintain and improve the reliability and security of the service
  • Comply with legal, tax, and regulatory obligations

How we share your information

We share information only where necessary to run the service:

  • Between customers and drivers — a driver assigned to your trip sees your pickup address and contact details; you see your driver's name, vehicle, and location for the duration of the trip.
  • Payment processors — Stripe and Paystack, to process payments and payouts.
  • Service providers — infrastructure and platform providers we rely on to run the App, including Google/Firebase (push notifications) and Mapbox (maps and routing).
  • Legal and safety — where required by law, or to protect the safety of our users and the public.

We do not sell your personal information to third parties for advertising purposes.

Data retention

We retain your information for as long as your account is active, and for a further period afterward where required to meet our legal, tax, and record-keeping obligations or to resolve disputes.

Your rights

You can review and update most of your account information directly in the App. You may also request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information by contacting us at the email below — we'll respond within a reasonable time, subject to any legal retention requirements.

Security

We use industry-standard safeguards to protect your information, including encrypting data in transit between the App and our servers. No system is completely secure, and we continually work to improve our protections.

Children's privacy

Trycyclo is not directed at children, and we require users to be at least 18 years old to create an account, in line with our payment and driving-related eligibility requirements.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll update the date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify you in the App.
